What Men Need

Men need adventure, men need purpose, and believe it or not, men need each other. Though many of us want others to think that we’re rugged individualist and we can do it ALL on our own, the truth is that we really do better when we’ve got strong, healthy friendships with other guys.

At Horizons you’ll find a place where you can do just that. Our Men’s LifeGroups provide a place where men can be real. You’ll get together with other men for friendship, encouragement, accountability and even just for the fun of it.

You'll study topics that are important to you and discover how to live a life that is full of meaning and purpose. While you’re at it, you’ll find a sense of brotherhood and belonging. While actively involved in a LifeGroup you'll find just what you need to help you take the next steps in your journey of faith.

Putting Your Faith in Action

Everyone has a purpose. We’ve all got gifts and talents and at Horizons we do our best to help you connect your talents and you passions with opportunities to serve. We encourage everyone to find ways to help and serve others. We encourage LifeGroups to find projects that they can do together, but there are also places where you can serve on your own.

Matthew 25:40 tells us “Whatever you have done to the least of these you have done to Me (Jesus).

That means that when we reach out as a representative of Jesus and give of time, money, or talents   to serve others it’s just as if we are doing it for Jesus. We challenge you to take what God has blessed you with and use it to benefit others. We’re sure that you’ll be glad that you did.

Here are some ideas about ways you might be able to help others: Two Horizons men work to install a shower during a Faith In Action Project

  • Home Repairs for: elderly, disabled, widows, single parents, etc.
  • Remodeling and Repairs at the Clarksburg Mission
  • Tutoring students in specific areas of study (teaching degree is not required)
  • Visiting inmates in area prisons (with Prison Ministry Team)
  • Provide simple auto repairs for needy
  • Fall clean-up, Winterization, yard work, etc.
  • Teach kids from fatherless homes about hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.

The things listed are actually things that men from Horizons have already done to help others. There’s never a shortage of ways that you can reach out to help. Let us help you find a project or ministry opportunity that fits you.
